May Highlights
Hi everyone,
This marks another hard month of 2020 in the rearview mirror and the start of one of big and significant change that is hopefully long lasting. This year has made us really examine our values, our actions and our hearts. Another week into protests over widespread police brutality, systematic inequality and the horrific murder of George Floyd and I don’t have any ability to care about anything else.
As a small business owner there are responsibilities to keep afloat and tasks to stay on-top of but this month I don’t want to talk about photography or the safe shooting practices I was going to address, I can do that next month, today I want to talk about action. I am sure you are taking your own steps but in case you need some suggestions outside of attending an in person protest here are some of the organizations and funds I have donated to and care about:
The Minnesota Freedom Fund- to help bail out folks who have been arrested while protesting in Minneapolis.
Black Lives Matter (Los Angeles chapter) - the original chapter of the movement to disrupt unequal systems of power and make the world a safer place for the Black community
Homeless Black Trans women fund- to directly support the heavily marginalized and highly vulnerable community of homeless Black trans women in Atlanta
the ACLU-The American Civil Liberties Union- a long running defender of civil rights with huge historic landmark cases that actively is battling inequality every day
And not to forget our snacks- here is a huge list of black owned businesses for a lot of areas in case you prefer to support by snagging a coffee or dinner.
Whatever action you take this is a great time to take it.

I don’t normally shout out the brands but Estee is a new Black owned small business making organic grass straws that are an environmentally friendly solution to harmful plastic straws or those paper straws that fall apart. They are seriously amazing and I have been using them non-stop and I hope these take off like crazy…
Stay safe friends.
xoxo,
