August 2022
Hi friends,
Happy Leo season aka the best season!!!
Thursday was my birthday so I thought for this newsletter I’d share a celebration shoot!
For this set I teamed up with designer and fellow foodie Tsz Chan to work through all our feelings in jello. Maximalism? Check! Order and patterns? Check! Chaos and mess? Obviously check check check! The studio has never seen so much jello! It also finally saw the use of the Zandra Rhodes x Ikea fabric that I snagged one afternoon, the last trace of her collab at our store, which I carried around clutched in my arms like a treasure I couldn’t let out of my sight lest it disappear into a cloud of naturally neon pink smoke. Also if anyone has an Ikea connect wow please let me know, will work for meatballs…
In any case please enjoy our wildly colorful and absurd set + this photo of me and my cake and please let me know if I can be of any use with your food photography needs!
Until next time, happy summer and happy snacking!
NEW WORK
July 2022
Hi friends,

This month I’m super happy to share a shoot I did with milliner icon Gladys Tamez to cover her collaboration with El Tesoro Tequila. For this shoot she showed off new signature cocktail and a stunning new hat inspired by their beautiful home country of Mexico, honoring artisanal methods. The shoot was done on location in her arts district studio with prop and food styling by Francesca Gabrielle and digital tech assistance from Brooke Vandever. Together we blended the feel of effortless natural light with the control of studio lighting for that timeless quality befitting the luxury of the partnership.
Also on deck to share this month is a project that never saw the light of day from earlier this year from a brand that was launching all clean living, reusable products which you know I am all about! Throwing it out into the universe as I’d love to do more eco-friendly work this year! Whatever impact we can make, we owe it to the world to try.
Finally another Nobu shoot! This one brought me all the way out to Malibu to visit the ocean! How terrible! Go snag one of the Beverly High Rye cocktails of the month if you are in the area!
While the news right now may be bleak (is there such a thing as a good news cycle?) I hope you are having a great start to your summer! Let me know if I can help with anything!
Until next time, happy snacking!
NEW WORK
June 2022
Hi friends,

At long last my hardworking client Beverly High Rye finally launched on World Whiskey Day this month, so I can share the fantastic work I shot for them! You can find more info on stockists on their site (which showcases a ton of our photos, a peek at them below) and some gorgeous places like Nobu are going to be slinging drinks with it so be sure to snag a bottle if you can. Last month I got some feedback that a lot of you liked hearing the details behind the shoot so pull up a pool chair for some semi succinct story-time!
For this shoot I worked closely with the owner of the brand and their designer, who needed to maximize the most content for the new launch as efficiently as possible. Since it wasn’t an established brand with existing assets they needed a little bit of everything. Oftentimes brands will request “library shoots” which will give them a large quantity of images to pull from for different placements but these shoots can be very hard to to create all stunning shots with limited time and budget constrictions. This is always a big concern to me as delivering the most spectacular photos is a huge priority for me! I want no duds in the pile ever! Of course the more time and attention given to each shot the most beautiful it will typically be- but for this shoot getting a good variety of images was essential, and time was of the essence.
Our strategy was to set up at a beautiful location we could stage in a variety of ways but use the existing elements and move around it fluidly with spontaneity. This brought us to a very fancy poolside patio area in the Hollywood Hills with a stunning view of the skyline. Using supplemented natural light vs fighting the sun, even in January we created the quintessential summer SoCal luxury vibe that was so crucial to the brand absolutely effortlessly and had a fabulous cocktail filled day by the pool- nailing their brief. We not only managed to get an ambitious shot list conquered but got some epic extras in too! Who doesn’t love options!? Plus it got me on location which I LOVE! The studio is an awesome space but this girl craves and adventure from time to time!
Following this shoot I was also asked to help document their new Nobu cocktail for a media and PR release (you can find it on Haute Living and ET online), which was shot on location for some moody, smoky realness. It’s a dark departure from the bright studio work I’ve been doing most recently and I love when I can show some versatility! Take a look at some of our shots below and on their website!
Is there anything else you’d like to hear from me for future newsletters? Let me know! I love hearing from you!
(Ooops hair color changed again.)
Until next time, happy snacking!
NEW WORK
May 2022
Hi friends,
May

This month I am SUPER pleased to share my shoot with LA florist Studio Chung. It’s not often I really get the opportunity to creative direct the whole project from the ground up and cultivate a little world so we wanted to take advantage of that, make it super special and bring some snack friends along for the ride. For my part I shot and prop styled the sets, using the opportunity to show off some of my favorite foods, while Sarah brought in the absolutely perfect floral accompaniments. Los Angeles’ food scene is wide and wonderful so this is our love letter to a slice of it’s diversity and color.
Here are some of the finer details of each set:
The red set showcases the snacks of San Gabriel restaurant Hui Tou Xiang whose tomato and egg noodles and dumplings are the stuff of dreams (don’t snooze on their chili oil either!) please go get an order, as well as everyone’s favorite white rabbit candy, chrysanthemum tea “juice” boxes and of course the OG Lao Gan Ma which I can’t live without.
The green set features a newish to me, favorite sweet, Kueh Lapis- made by the unstoppable sisters of Bungkus Bagus who have been bringing their Balinese flavors to LA through special pop ups, and Smorgadsborg LA (which also everyone should know about too), please go try everything they make, I’ll accept a thank you card later. I got their food during a pandemic pop up and never stopped thinking about it! The rest of the snacky bits hail from Tip Top mart in San Gabriel in case you need to stock up on some shrimp chips too.
The cream set used local beautiful eggs from a backyard bird, the durian stank up the studio a bit afterwards but no regrets and all Kumquats were voraciously eaten by me mostly while watching old episodes of Criminal Minds.
I’m hoping to continue this series with some more must try LA snacks- what are your favorites? I’d love to hear all about it!
As always if I can help with anything, shoot me a message!
(Obligatory photo of photographer with camera otherwise how would you know? Hair color subject to change.)
Until next time, happy snacking!
